State Final Results

Wednesday, May 30 2018 - IHSA Class 1A State Finals

The boys track team ended their season in dramatic fashion as they took home 6th in the state at the IHSA meet.  The 31.5 points scored at the meet serves as a team record, as does the 6th place finish.  Individual all-state athletes include:

The 4x400 meter relay, who won the first state championship in school history in this event and the second state title ever brought home by Plains.  The quartet of Jonah Miller, Sam McAfee, Michael Scott, and Luke McGraw brought home the title in a school record time of 3:23.01.

The 4x800 ended their season as second place in the state.  The time of 8:06.14 is the second fastest time in school history.  This relay included Nick Sunley, Brock Brummett, Otis Sanders, and Luke McGraw.

Chase Schmitt had a massive day in the discus.  His throw of 164'2" eclipsed his old school record by nearly four feet.  His massive throw was the first Plains athlete to ever earn all-state in the discus, and he took home third place.

Tristen Tewes had a big day in the high jump.  The junior cleared an outdoor 2018 best by leaping over 6'5" to take home 4th place.

Chase Schmitt was the first shot putter to qualify for the state meet in school history.  He will also be the first to place.  Chase's heave of 49'9" placed him 9th in the state.
