First to the Finish Results

The girls and boys had historic and near historic days at the First to the Finish Invitational.  

The boys ran against 14 of the top 25 ranked teams in the state, finishing 7th.  This is just one place behind the team's best ever showing at this event, which was 6th in 2013.  Team scores were as followed:

Not to be outdone, the #9 ranked women made program history.  Their fourth place finish was the first time a squad from Pleasant Plains ever brought home hardware at this meet.  The girls' field was even more daunting than the boys, as 16 of the Illinois top 25 made the trip for this epic showdown.  After it was all said and done, the team scores were:

The program also brought home the most combined individual medals in their history at this meet, and the most top 20 finishes.  Individual medalists were:

Heidi Hergenrother's new PR is actually better than the 24:37 she ran last year at Jacksonville.  The impressive thing is that Jacksonville is a 2.9 mile course!

The girls race did run long.  Subtract anywhere from :45-1:20 depending on pacing.

In addition, for the first time in the girl's program history, 5 girls broke the 21 minute barrier!

There are numerous things to be excited about as the season moves forward.  Tuesday the Cardinals will travel to QND and compete at South Park in Quincy.  We would love to see you there!
