Regional Results

The boys and girls both had an excellent regional race.

For the first time in school history, the girls can call themselves regional champions!  The boys advanced as well, and they placed a very respectable 2nd place.

Individual medalists include:

Caroline Jachino, 2nd place

Brigid Tournoux, 5th place

And for the boys:

Steven Melin, 1st place

Braden Moore, 3rd place

Both Otis Sanders and Bernadette Tournoux placed 6th, just barely missing out on honors.  Michael Scott placed 12th, and Michael Benning placed 51st to round out the top 5.  

On the girls side, Madison Utterback and Izzy Dossett rounded out the top 5, placing 12th and 13th.  Emily Higginson placed 38th, and Heidi Hergenrother placed 41st to round out the top 7.

Steven Melin's finish was also the most exciting finish of the day.  Check out our twitter feed to see the thrilling conclusion; Cynthia Higginson captured a fantastic video of the event! Steven's mad dash ensured that for the past 6 out of 7 years, a Plains athlete (either a boy or a girl) stood atop the podium at regionals.  

Both the boys and girls teams will compete at the Elmwood sectional on Saturday.  Race times are 10 AM for the boys and 11 AM for the girls.
